Portmellon

Cornwall Trip - Day 5

Weather forecast threatening rain today, so don't hurry this morning. However by midday it seemed to be brightening up a bit, so went for a short walk south to the next village Portmellon. It is barely a mile along the coast road, and only took 15 minutes or so.

Portmellon is a small village at the head of a small cove. The road dips right down to sea level, and clearly gets regularly inundated at high tide judging by the amount of seaweed washed up over the roadway.

Had a pint of St Austell's Dartmoor Legend at the Rising Sun Inn, a cosy and characterfull pub right by the cove. Unfortunately they don't do food on Mondays.

Walked back to Mevagissey where I bought some scallops from the stall on the quayside. I had them fried with bacon later that evening.
