Bugsworth

A short cruise south from New Mills along the Peak Forest Canal. Very attractive landscape looking out East over the Goyt Valley. Continued down the Whaley Bridge arm to turn around and stop for provisioning at the convenient Tescos near Whaley Bridge Junction.

Moored at Bugsworth Basin - a scheduled historic monument. It is like a canal port complex in the middle of the forest. Fascinating industrial architecture and archaeology - this is over 200 years old. There are a number of interconnected basins crossed by various bridges, with ramps for the old tramways alongside.
