Macclesfield Canal

Very windy again today, but at least no rain, and quite a bit of bright sunshine here and there.

Continued south along the Macclesfield Canal to Bollington Wharf, where we had planned to get some lunch. Ended up at Bollington Wharf, which was really the wrong end of  town for pubs etc. so had quite a long walk through West Bollington and under the viaduct and aqueduct to the main part of the town - which was not unattractive, although very quiet. Eventually found a pub that was open - the Spinners Arms - and had a pint and a half there before walking back to the boat - stopping off at the bakery, butchers, and supermarket for provisions on the way.

Turned around at Bollington to make our way back towards Marple. We were supposed to get back by 6:00pm to meet-up with the guy to service the stove, but as  we left Bollington so late we only made it as far as High Lane. moored-up by the Bulls Head Hotel at Bridge no. 11. Had a couple of pints in the pub, which proved to be very entertaining - rather drunk local girl who came over and talked to us (claimed to be a  witch), and the huge pub dog (I'm still not sure if it was a man in a furry dog suit), which proved to be more than a match for Ginger's playfulness.
