Weather this morning was much better than forecast - bright and breezy, so walk down to St Mawes Castle for a proper look around (it is only open at the weekends this time of year). It is sunny but very windy out on the castle point, but there is hardly anyone else here, so practically have the castle to myself. Take time to listen to the audio guide, but try to skip through the rather irritating dramatisation bits. The castle is impressive and aesthetically pleasing. It is almost complete and original, including original Tudor door and door arch carvings inside.
After visiting the castle, spend a little time on the tiny secluded beach alongside. Make several attempts at building a cairn, but the stones are not really suitable, and it is really too windy.
Evening - dinner at The Watch House: - Seared St Mawes scallops with Jerusalem artichoke (puree) and salsa verde.
- Fish pie with locally smoked haddock (and mussels) with spinach and cheddar mash.
- Glass of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc (x2)
- Double espresso
