East Anglia trip - day 15
Despite the forecast of heavy rain, I decided to go for a riverside walk upstream along the River Bure from Coltishall to Buxton. It was a bit dull, cold and damp, but nice walking nonetheless, and not too muddy at all. I managed to avoid serious rain until I reached Buxton. Then it started to rain heavily so I decided not to go to look at the mill, and walked along the path beside the railway line straight to Buxton Station to catch the next steam train to Aylsham. Got very wet waiting on the exposed platform (along with an amusing elderly lady), although only had to wait for about ten minutes for the train. It is a narrow guage railway, so the carriages are tiny (although all enclosed), and it was so cold and damp that the windows were pretty much steamed-up. So I didn't see a great deal.

Return fare Coltishall - Aylsham £9.00
Had a coffee in the station buffet at Aylsham, and dried-off a bit before going for a quick wander around the town. But it was pretty cold and rainy so went for a pint of Adnams Broadside at The Black Boys Hotel. Apparently, this is run by the same people as The Recruiting Sargeant at Horstead. A pleasant enough place for a quiet drink before walking back out to the station for the next train back to Coltishall.

Dinner at the Kings Head, Coltishall:
Everything was very good except the pork belly which was tough, very fatty and not crispy. The tenderloin and confit cheek were very tasty though, as were the scallops (which go very well with piccalilli) and the chocolate dessert.

- Trio of pork (tenderloin, belly, confit cheek) with braised savoy cabbage, carrot pure, sauteed potatoes and cider sauce;
- Chocolate Plate (baked white chocolate cheesecake, milk chocolate mousse and dark chocolate sorbet);
- Adnams bitter;
- espresso.
